Birdwatch 4th October & Walk 30th September 2009

Walk 30th September
Our walk from Newton Poppleford was in September sunshine as we completed a circular route via Colaton Raleigh.

While walking alongside the River Otter we had a brief glimpse of an Osprey being mobbed by crows. Careful searching of trees in the vicinity revealed the bird perched on an exposed branch. A real treat for the group.
Birdwatch 4th October
Our annual Birdwatch along the Axe included a nice mix of waders showing well. There were two Bar-tailed Godwits, several Black-tailed Godwits, a Knot, two Dunlin and three Ringed Plovers amongst the usual Curlew and Redshanks. It was a good opportunity to have clear views of these birds learning features of identification.
A fly-past by a Kingfisher was the icing on the cake.
