Somerset Levels 20th January 2010
(by Ian Waite)

Despite light rain during the day our group of nineteen enjoyed seeing many birds including Marsh Harrier, Bittern and Great White Egret. Close numbers of large numbers of ducks were a delight at Catcott Lows.
At the starling point we were joined by members of Otter Vale Association. We were very lucky and had the best display seen this winter according to a local RSPB volunteer.
A huge flock displaying the ‘wave effect’ was breathtaking, the best I have seen in my visits over the years.

Otters have become regular sightings on Seaton and Colyford Reserves in recent weeks. The best and most frequent views are on the Borrow Pit, our own reserve. Worth a visit!
