Weymouth Birdwatch    6th February 2010

We started out at the Ferrybridge area and had very good views of Mediterranean Gulls in their 1st winter, 2nd winter and adult plumage mixed in with Black-headed and Common Gulls.

Then we then moved onto Sandsfoot Castle where there was a very large flock of Mergansers sheltering behind the headland along with some Black-necked Grebes and a Great Northern Diver.

After lunch we moved on to Lodmoor and Radipole Reserves where Bearded Tits & a Bittern had recently been seen. The almost resident Hooded Merganser was clearly seen near the RSPB shop. In all about 50 species were recorded and a good day was had by all.
